Plans are afoot to build a new Burger King restaurant and drive-thru in Pocklington, alongside an Enterprise ‘rent a car’ branch next door.
The two new businesses will open on the land opposite Pocklington Services on the Broadhelm Business Park development.

Burger King will be the third drive-thru at Pocklington Services, with a Starbucks Coffee and KFC drive-thru already existing. There is also a Shell petrol station which consists of a Nisa shop and a Subway instore.

East Riding Council’s Western Area Planning Sub-Committee approved plans for the drive thru, despite one objector claiming it would make the “eyesore” business park at Pocklington’s approach worse and “overshadow” Wolds Gliding Club while the town’s council said the building was “dull and uninspiring”.
Burger King is expected to bring 34 jobs to Pocklington, and will come with a 69 space car park, with four allocated for blue-badge holders.

There were concerns about the gliding club which has a runway behind the site, but a council report on the plans stated the gliding club had measures in place to ensure its aircraft’s flight paths were safe.
